Similar to the murals and posters I created, I wanted to use the short film I made about living on the Isle of Wight, specifically Military Road and Compton Bay, as a way to advertise the island from a new perspective. Instead of focusing on sales, I wanted to highlight the life and joy that the island has to offer. I used an image from the Red Jet website, which showcases their advertising opportunities, and overlaid my video on top of the television screen located on the Red Jet car ferry from Portsmouth. This is just to give everyone an idea of what it would look like in practice.

I believe that using the ferry's advertising screens for this project would allow the film to reach a wider audience while also showcasing the island in a more authentic and personal way. Rather than the usual tourist promotions, this would provide a more human perspective, focusing on the real experiences of people living on the island. By combining the natural beauty of the Isle of Wight with local voices, I hope to create a sense of connection that makes the island feel like more than just a destination, but a place to truly experience and be a part of. This approach not only gives a fresh take on traditional advertising but also brings the island’s unique qualities to life in a more engaging and relatable way for both tourists and residents alike.
