Revisiting my strengths and weaknesses list with a fresh perspective.
My list of strengths.
- Photography – I feel confident in my photography and feel i can use this as a tool to create a great base layer/background for this animation.
- Charcoal – I enjoy working with expressive textures and shading, Charcoal has always been a great alternative to pencil drawing for me so I'm very familiar with it.
- Digital Illustration – I’m often drawn to bold, clean designs. As I am familiar with digital illustration, I'm going to use this as the first medium I use and create a design I'm happy with. This way I can use this as reference when using the other mediums.
- Collage – I'm good at layering and combining different elements to create unique compositions that stand out. The challenging part of collage in this project will be trying to display a train using collage.
My list of Weaknesses.
- Typography – I struggle with choosing and pairing fonts in a way that enhances my designs.
- Print Design – Printing can be challenging for me, working with ink in general I find tricky. I have ordered some materials for lino printing as that's the type of print I’m most familiar with.
- Embroidery – I’m often unsure about how to translate my designs into Embroidery effectively. I have tried embroidery many times and I think I usually over complicate it and that's where it goes wrong. I think this time I might try and simplify the design as much as possible.
- Pattern – I'm good at creating visual elements, but I find it difficult to repeat and arrange them into seamless patterns. My plan for this Medium is to use Yayoi Kusama (that I researched last week for this project) as inspiration. Yayoi will be perfect for this as she is known for her Immersive Pokka dot Artwork.
