Introduction

In week 1 we explored how design studios choose to engage with a variety of approaches to support their individual needs. This week’s lecture will address classic business models that have been utilised by entrepreneurs to support their growth.

We will be exploring sole traders, partnerships, studios, agencies and collectives. We will look at how these varying types of enterprises operate at different stages of growth. We will also consider issues such as intellectual property, audit and security within different scales of business.

We will be unpacking the operational and strategic factors that support working as a designer today. We will also consider the different types of clients that you may choose to engage with as a creative entrepreneur within a variety of different contexts.
