Creating my own Dyslexia Forum.

Step One: Figure out what your specific niche will be.

I know that I want to create a forum which consists of a safe space for people with dyslexia to share their own transport horror stories and to seek advice from one another—specifically about using the London Underground. A potential name could be: Surviving the Underground: A Dyslexic’s Map to London’s Maze.

Step Two: Choose a forum script.

I know I'm just going to use a free online option for my forum, as this is just for a project—it’s unnecessary to spend any money. But in theory, I would create my own paid forum that couldn’t be removed if I were to develop this into a real business. After a quick Google search, I think ProBoards seems like a good option as it's free and requires no coding experience.

Step Three: Find a good forum hosting program

This step will be simple for me as I’m just going to use a free software like ProBoards. I can do everything there to simplify things as much as possible, especially with my limited time and knowledge on creating forums.

Step Four: Start creating your forum or discussion areas.

I’ll want to start off with about five different forums. They should all be related to the main topic of my board (dyslexic travel information). Some ideas are:

Step Five: Advertise your forum to get users.

Create a QR code to use in my work.

Step Six: Make posts to your forum.

As the creator, I’ll make the first few initial posts on each page as examples of how they can be used. They’ll be written in a relaxed tone and won’t require any academic-level writing.
