I have started mind mapping ideas after this week, just some initial thoughts that I think could be fun for my Pitch Deck. I tried to think creatively and outside the box, in the hopes that it will be enjoyable enough to keep me focussed over the next 10 weeks. Although I'm not set on any of these ideas yet.
My initial idea was to create a ‘day in the life’ drawing series about micro-experiences, those small, often unnoticed moments no one really talks about.
It’s something I’ve already been exploring on my Instagram: little snapshots from my own life that I don’t usually share, illustrated in a cute, funny, and (hopefully) relatable way.
Some examples could include:
I’ve been thinking about ways to gather more ideas that others might relate to. I could post polls and questionnaires on Instagram to see what people come up with, maybe even send a survey around to my work colleagues.
These illustrations could be turned into simple posters, designed to spark a bit of joy around train stations, underground platforms, bus stops, anywhere people are commuting and maybe not feeling their best.
Another option would be to create an illustrated zine filled with these funny moments, something you could pick up in a bookshop or keep on a coffee table. I love the idea of making it with tearable pages, so they could be used as mini prints, pinned on a wall or tucked between books on a shelf.
Finally, I’ve thought about presenting them in a gallery setting, small square illustrations placed on large, blank walls. They’d be tiny enough that you'd have to walk right up to read them, meaning no one could see you if you happen to giggle to yourself. I quite like the idea of something so small and random taking up space in a big, open gallery. It would be refreshing to visit an exhibition that’s the opposite of pretentious, just something fun, relatable, and joyful.
My second idea was to create a ‘Surviving the underground’ series about trying to navigate the underground (possible in the perspective of a dyslexic with no navigational skills.
