Going back to the start
So far ive been getting no wherewith my research for my idea, there isnt any inforamtion about the stories of the women behind the paintings so ive had to go back to the drawing board.
The Brief
Overview
I am creating a design intervention in collaboration with The National Gallery to help the public engage with its permanent collection in a new way.
It can be on-site or off-site, and in any medium (digital, print, spatial, etc.).
The Task
Developing a creative concept that:
- Addresses a specific issue or challenge related to engagement with the Gallery’s collection.
- Focuses on a clear context (e.g., a specific painting, artist, or period).
- Identifies your target audience (e.g., art lovers, people disengaged from galleries, children, etc.).
- Explains what your intervention is and where it lives (onsite/offsite).
- Shows your process – how your idea developed, what influenced it, and how you tested it.
- Reflects critically on how successful it is and what could improve.
Weekly Focus
- Week 6: Develop project strategy and timeline.
- Week 7: Research trends and write a mission statement.
- Week 8: Ground your idea in design theory and academic context.
- Week 9: Gather feedback from peers or your audience.
- Week 10: Revisit your brief — are you meeting its aims?
