Week 9: Concept development | Methodologies for thinking and development processes

This week we will address development processes.

So far you will have been working on developing your project plan and strategy, understanding related themes and trends, while closely researching the subject area that you are working within. Your creative development should also be well underway.

We expect you to be bold, brave and take risks to develop an innovative project outcome. Remember, we really want to see evidence of you pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and trying new things. Don’t forget to embrace failure and learn from your mistakes, as this can lead to unexpected and exciting outcomes.

As with previous weeks, we will continue to present the professional practice case study interviews and explore how designers gather insights from elsewhere in the industry.

At this stage it’s also important to fully understand the formats of the assignment that are required for this module. You should be developing your Studio Practice PDF already, as it’s much simpler to start working on the design and navigation of this document at an early stage, instead of cramming it at the end.

The second submission is your video, which consists of two reflective presentations that evaluate the effectiveness of your Self-initiated and Industry Set final project outcomes.
